Challenge: Ongoing insurgency attacks on civilians in the LNG project area led to project delays and increased costs.
• Local security issues are rising (terrorist attacks, protests, arrests, kidnapping, murders).
• Local media is undeveloped & national media faces operating restrictions (i.e., arrests). Limited Gov’t capability or capacity.
• Traditional security vendors are more focused on sub-Sahara or Southern Africa, and local service providers produce limited reporting.
Goal: Create an intelligence aggregation system that provides unbiased and timely reporting and mapping of local news.
Solution: Real time scan of 120+web, media, social, academic, Gov’t data and local media in local language and English. Supplemented by in-depth cross mapping of 6,500 key stakeholders and events to reduce local news bias. Delivered to 100+project team via curated news feed and biweekly reports for cross referencing.
Results:
-> Speed: Security incidents captured faster than internal processes.
-> Focus: 500 security-related stakeholders analysed daily.
-> Cost: Client eliminated 3 news agency subscriptions and avoided security vendor cost (3x the cost) – saved $1.8 million against an investment of $180,000 system.
